I don’t recall the first time I heard them, but this easy going over curly producing architect was blown away by instance. So we kept following them, reviewing most of the farts they let. Building a momentum which is about to get to the climax: the longplayer in optima forma.
And it’s beyond what we’d hoped for. Not only does it contain 3 or 4 shiny pearls, but this album is a listening experience from the first second to the last echo. This is the big fat Weval signature soundtrack the world was in desperate need of.
And it’s not just those overly out of tuned synths. NOOOO way. The vocals, listen to the vocals! And the basslines. Everything goes so deep, it’s such a wide and overwhelming musical spectrum. Listen to the hihats in you’re mine, the drum beat in days, Such well chosen effects, extra lines. Weval seems to be born with synths and drumcomputers. It just had to be.
I could write 3 more pages about the production and the songs but luckily for you I won’t. The only thing I will say is that when you finally reach the end of the album, it turns out they left the best for last. As with all their songs the climax takes 'years to build'… Which makes years to build the perfect ending of an extraordinary album.
Leaves us with one last question . Where is this gonna end? Amsterdam is clearly too small. But is the world big enough? Have we found the intergalactic offsprings of orpheus and dionysus ?
It could very well be...
