To celebrate the deceased, the people behind Trouw compiled a vinyl box set filled with songs of their favourite trouw DJs. One DJ that could never ever be missed on that compilation is our own Tom Trago. Yes Tom Techno Trago.
But also Tom dutch hip hop Trago, Tom disco edit Trago and Tom give me more of these brilliant Tiga remixes Trago.
For this compilation Tom did quite a special track. The day before the closing of the club he went to Trouw and recorded as much quirky and typical sounds of the building he could find. You hear the hydraulic hoist, talks with chef Simo and the frontdoor bell, whilst the kick drum of Resistance (Daytime) was made entirely from the sound of closing fridge doors.
It’s an approach that shows great resemblance with the great Matthew Herbert. And just as Herberts amazing one pig it works!
Tom turns the fridgedoors into a great dreamy melodic track balancing on the edge of both techno and disco. A track with an awesome bassline and still very suitable for the dancefloor on that one special moment of the night….
Once again we send Amsterdam our condolences with the loss of Club TROUW but thank god, at least we still have Tom Trago. Where would we be without him.
Tom DutchDiscoApproved Trago.
