After his album ZOA, Mason is back again with another killer EP.
Of the 2 originals (Calabrese and Palmetto) and 1 remix package, Calabrese is our pick. We heard this track for the first time last saturday when Mason was dominating Paradiso Amsterdam.
Hearing the word calabrese, makes you dream of the warm sunny south part of italy, the fantastic nero d’avola in the hand, eating a tagliate di manza while watching out on the tyrrhenian sea. The truth though, is that this song has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with that. On the contrary, this one is not for the faint hearted. This one needs a warning on the leaflet. Don’t ever push the playbutton before you made sure your pacemaker is working correctly.
But holy F$&#CK you get a lot of it in return. The groovy beat, jackin noise and horn on the afterbeat build and build. All the way up to utter crazyness. Then ultimately, the drop...
And out of nowhere, a quirky and catchy melody makes it's entry.
For a moment we are back on that italian terrace sipping our fabulous red wine. Birds in the background, dreaming away in romanesque times…. Until that horn smacks us back in reality, as if it was the recently build highway right next to our terrace. BAM.
A blast. that’s what it is. A party crusher. And we love that. No doubt, Dutch Disco Approved.
