The Cars - Hello Again (2CV Rework)

23/2/2015

2CV’s sound doesn’t have the flow of an old shabby car as you might expect, neither of their trademark toy horses. Probably more like a locomotive that isn’t in any sort of hurry.  The boys remix lots of those trendy and cool kids with unpronounceable Mexican names, but aren’t ashamed to give an old classic a 2CV treatment. ‘Hello Again’ by the Cars got 2CV-ised in a no nonsense fun on the dance floor sort of way. The type of record people where might pick up random objects to hold above em while dancing in a nonchalant manner. Did I mention chin strokers should be banned from dance floors anyway ? We’re waiting in vain for some 2CV originals that are scheduled for later this year. Meanwhile you can download this remix for free, which makes it even more Dutch.

Moods Sincere EP

The first EP of Moods? Let me briefly explain  what that’s all about.

So you are in Lisbon, walking next to the rio Tejo. It’s the end of february and the sun is shining clearly. 16 degrees and you just keep on thinking: Shall i take off my jacket of or not…. And after doubting that for 10 minutes all of a sudden you know it.

Hold tight. Enjoy this warm sun without losing your body heat. Keep that scarf but enjoy that spring preview.

It’s a preview, don’t lose your mind, it’s a bonus….

And that’s exactly what Moods is all about. It’s not Kraak, it’s not Smaak, it’s a bonus. It’s the warm blanket on a cold winter morning. It’s the instagram filter on your pale picture. It’s pastel with a lot of orange. And it’s dutch disco approved.

Sebastien Leger - DXB

Sebastien Leger’s Dutch language skills are still pretty lousy, but let’s just blame all the heavy touring. The Frenchman has been living in Amsterdam for about 10 years now, so we think he’s Dutch enough for our blog. A man who’s second nature is making uber-danceable grooves before breakfast, and lots of it. His output is so enormous he basically just picks a few and throws them ‘to the people’ from time to time. And we’re happy he does. ‘DXB’ is less techno then his usual bits and more of an sinister groover that just asks for the light jockey to turn down all those coloury lights. A bad writer might call it a Moroderesque baseline - but we won’t do that to every arpeggio bass. It’s dark disco, steamy and exciting. And out now http://btprt.dj/1zaLLHQ

Mason, Nite Rite One

Every full moon, when the werewolfs are crying in the woods, and lunatics are dancing around the fire, a new episode of the 'nite rite' series will be released on animal language.

This series is the result of the many things that have been cooking in the cave of Mason over the past years. Of all the beats, loops and ideas that never became a full track, he has picked the best ones to produce a series of 'DJ tools' that would otherwise never see the light of day. Or at least, that's what the artists says this series is.

Well what is a "Dj tool" anyway? (No, no, no, this is not the artist name of the latest EDM sensation, though it would fit many of the artists dominating this genre). A DJ tool could be best described as a track or even just a series of loops that works well in a DJ set, not as a track on it's own. It's a piece of music designed for playing out in the clubs.

In our opinion, 'Nite rite one' is a lot more then that. This is a groove based side of Mason that we rarely see, but that we like very much. So we were not surprised that it's picked up and supported by Ministry of sound, The Magician and Tensnake.

This is a track for your playlist in itunes, that you will play over and over and that you will be nodding your head to every single time. So, mr. Mason, give us more of these little secrets you have been keeping under your sleeve. WE WANT THEM, and it's Dutch Disco Approved.

It seems something fresh is going on. Something yet undefined but sexy, underground and about to explode.
